On Back Pain

Lately, I have seen a number of clients with back pain. Among them was a young man who injured his back while loading a truck. He initially neglected the injury until the pain became severe—so intense that sitting, walking, and even lying down were difficult.

He was unable to drive and had already been on disability for three months. According to his neurologist, the injured muscle was pulling on his spine, and there was little that could be done other than allowing the muscle time to heal. He was told that recovery could take approximately six months.

Three months had already passed. He had spent much of that time resting in bed and had made little progress with physical therapy.

A mutual family friend eventually brought him to our clinic. After watching how acupuncture was performed, he decided to give it a try.

After his first treatment, he was surprised by how much more freely he could move. He was able to arch his back and noticed a significant improvement in his flexibility and comfort. With continued care, he continued to feel better.

We were so happy to see his progress. He is a young man with so much life ahead of him, and being sidelined by a back injury had been incredibly difficult.

Stories like his remind us why we do what we do. Every person responds differently to acupuncture, but when someone who has been struggling finally experiences some relief and movement again, it is incredibly rewarding to be part of that journey.
